How To Buy Legal Weed Online Across Canada

Cannabis retail stores aren’t yet open in every province and territory, but Canadians across the country can order dried flower, pre-rolled joints, oils and capsules online.

That doesn’t mean cannabis is a snap to get. Canadians looking to buy legal weed face two big hurdles: inventory shortages, as well as service disruptions and delivery backlogs from the Canada Post strike.

While the online shopping experience across the country is broadly similar (several provinces and private companies use Shopify’s e-commerce platform), consumers will find differences in prices, taxes, shipping and product availability. And if your home province is short on products, you can’t order from somewhere else — online sellers can only ship to the province they’re licensed to supply.

The only way to buy legal cannabis online in Canada is through the following government-authorized distributors. Here’s a province-by-province guide to buying legal weed, starting from east to west:

Mail order marijuana sites (MOMs)

An important note: if you Google “buy weed online [your province],” you’ll probably see several black market mail order marijuana operations (called MOMs) appear in the search results just below the official provincial retailer. MOMs have professionally designed websites, and advertise fast and discreet shipping on dried flower, oils, concentrates and edibles — what they don’tadvertise is that they’re illegal.
