Cannabis Calendar for the Week of May 26: Grow Your Own

Tired of spending money at dispensaries? Interested in a basement garden? There are multiple classes on the process of cultivating your own marijuana grows, as well as the usual pot-friendly lineup at Green Labs and more in this week’s Cannabis Calendar.

On Thursday, May 28, Clover Leaf University will teach Cannabis Cultivation 102: Warehouse Cultivation — a four-hour course about components of large-scale growing mediums, watering, lighting, ventilation and cycles. The stand-alone class starts at 4 p.m. at 3888 E. Mexico Avenue and costs $299 to attend. Curriculum also includes pest-control methods, advanced harvesting techniques and the importance of curing. Green Labs will host one of its famed Sushi and Joint-Rolling classes this week on Friday, May 29, where you can learn how to roll up two different types of delectable fatties. The class is limited to twenty people, starts at 7 p.m. and costs $65 to attend. Click here for more information. 21+

On Saturday, May 30, Mixed Bag: Marijuana in the Highlands — a photo exhibition on the movement toward cannabis legalization — will feature the panel discussion “Legitimacy and Uncertainty: A Fireside Chat About Colorado’s Pot Industry” at 1 p.m. The panel will focus on the impact of the legal cannabis industry. The photo exhibition is available for viewing until Saturday, June 27, and both take place at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center . Tickets are $10 each. Learn more here .

On Saturday, May 30, at 2 p.m., Green Labs will host a crash course on growing your own cannabis. Students will learn about working with small-to-medium grows, outdoor vs. indoor gardening, electrical safety, ventilation, soil preparation, harvesting and more. The two-hour class will cost $45 to attend and is for adults 21+ and red-card holders over eighteen only. Click here for more information.

Green Labs will host another Puff, Pass and Paint class on Saturday, May 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. For $50, you can enjoy cannabis while local artist Heidi Keyes teaches an intimate painting lesson. Although cannabis consumption (bring your own) is encouraged, it’s not required. Learn more here . 21+

Cannabis Nutrition for Vibrant Health will teach a class at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, at Green Labs, on the benefits of consuming raw cannabis, with. After learning how to prepare raw cannabis, including two juicing demonstrations, you’ll leave with more than twenty recipes to try on your own. The 21+ class costs $20 to attend. The First Annual Hemp Farmers Market will visit Denver on Saturday, June 6, at the Greenhouse, 6565 East Evans Avenue. The emporium runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature live music, food trucks and dozens of hemp product vendors. The family-friendly event is free to attend. Click here to learn more.

CannaCon will take place June 11-13 at the Colorado Convention Center . Claiming to be the “world’s largest canna-business marketplace,” the expo, which is geared toward cannabis businesses, employees, entrepreneurs and investors, will feature daily seminars, guest speakers and product showcases for anyone interested in the economics of the emerging pot industry.
